Mission
The Pelican Library is a national, educational, and cultural initiative whose purpose is to provide a curated library collection which reflects the true, the good, and the beautiful.
Through the acquisition of the world’s best literature for children and families, specially selected art and cultural artifacts, and an
atmosphere of exploration and creativity, we intend to bring patrons a wholesome and safe family experience that encourages and
celebrates the growth of imagination, intelligence, and community life.
Vision
The Pelican Library seeks to build a nationwide network of outstanding private collections to inspire, educate, support, and serve families and communities through intentional curation and aesthetic design in order that they may have memorable library experiences and become lifelong readers.
Curation
Libraries will be centrally curated by a team of librarians formed by the head branch librarians, with inclusion criteria into the collection based on a book’s alignment with truth, goodness, and beauty.
Library Network
Branches of the Pelican Library will be established across the nation, beginning in East Texas. We will partner with local communities to build libraries in abandoned churches, other historical structures, within the cultural, social, and intellectual fabric of their town.
Atmosphere
The architecture and design of every branch of the Pelican Library will prioritize traditional beauty and old-world charm with the goal of creating an atmosphere to inspire the imagination of readers.
